Important Notes

The High Flow Hotend is best suited for printing large models with long, continuous extrusion paths, where its high-speed, high-flow capabilities can be fully utilized. For models with intricate details, complex curved surfaces, numerous corners, or frequent changes in direction, printing speeds may be limited, and the benefits of the High Flow Hotend may be less noticeable.
The U1 currently does not support using hotends with different nozzle diameters in the same print job. Before printing, ensure that all toolheads used in the print job are equipped with hotends of the same nozzle diameter.
For hotend installation instructions, refer to the U1 Hotend User Guide.
When switching from high-temperature filaments, such as ABS, ASA, PA, or PC, to heat-sensitive filaments, such as PLA or PETG, perform a cold pull before printing to help prevent clogging. Use the printer’s unloading procedure to unload the high-temperature filament, then load the new filament without starting the loading procedure. Set the nozzle to the high-temperature filament’s printing temperature and manually extrude until the residual filament is fully purged and the new filament flows smoothly. Lower the nozzle temperature to 220–240°C and continue extruding as it cools. Then lower it to 85°C and, once cooled, slowly pull the filament upward. A three-pronged tip indicates a successful cold pull. If the filament cannot be extruded, increase the nozzle temperature or clear the nozzle with a cleaning needle. Filament & Nozzle Compatibility

What filaments are supported by the High-Flow Hotend?

The High-Flow Hotend is compatible with a wide range of commonly used PLA, PETG, ABS, ASA, PA (nylon), PC, PVA, support, and other engineering filaments.

Please note that High-Flow printing is not recommended for fiber-filled filaments such as CF- or GF-filled materials, wood-filled filaments, or TPU. At high extrusion rates, fibers in CF-, GF-, and wood-filled filaments may tangle or carbonize, increasing the risk of clogging and print failure. TPU may also cause feeding instability at high extrusion rates.

For CF- and GF-filled filaments, we recommend using a hardened steel nozzle to improve wear resistance. For CF-, GF-, wood-filled filaments, and TPU, we recommend using a suitable standard hotend rather than printing in High-Flow mode.

For high-temperature filaments such as ABS, ASA, PA, and PC, we recommend using the U1 with the Top Cover to help maintain a suitable printing environment.

Can I use different nozzle diameters on different hotends?

No. Different nozzle diameters cannot be used within the same print job. All hotends used for a single print job must have the same nozzle diameter.

Different filament materials can still be used on different hotends within the same print job, as long as the nozzle diameter is the same.

Can the High-Flow Hotend use the same filament presets as the stock 0.4 mm hotend?

Yes. The High-Flow Hotend uses the same 0.4 mm nozzle diameter as the stock hotend, so you can use the same filament presets without creating new filament profiles.

Can the High-Flow Hotend and standard hotend be used on the same printer?

Yes. You can install High-Flow and standard hotends on different toolheads.

Before starting a print job, make sure the flow type and nozzle diameter specified in the sliced file match the hotend and nozzle configuration installed on the corresponding toolhead.

If the sliced file requires a High-Flow hotend but the corresponding toolhead has a standard-flow hotend, or vice versa, the printer will display a warning and the print job cannot proceed until the configuration is corrected.

Installation & Configuration

Is the High-Flow Hotend installed and used differently from the stock hotend?

No. The installation method for the High-Flow Hotend is the same as that for the stock hotend.

After installation, complete the required firmware and software configuration, and use the corresponding Liber™ system slicing parameters.

Is the High-Flow Hotend compatible with other Snapmaker printer models?

No. The High-Flow Hotend is designed specifically for the Snapmaker U1 and is not compatible with other Snapmaker printer models.

Is the High-Flow Hotend compatible with all U1 hotend configurations?

The High-Flow Hotend uses the same installation and replacement process as the standard U1 hotend.

After installation, make sure the corresponding hotend type, nozzle diameter, firmware, and software settings are configured correctly before printing.

Replacement & Components

Do I need to replace all four hotends with High-Flow Hotends?

No. You do not need to replace all four hotends at the same time.

The High-Flow Hotend is available in both 4-pack and single-pack options, allowing you to replace only the hotends you need.

You can use High-Flow and standard hotends on different toolheads. However, all nozzles used within the same print job must have the same nozzle diameter.

Does the High-Flow Hotend come with a heating element?

Yes. The High-Flow Hotend comes with the heating element pre-installed.

The heating element uses the same specifications as the original hotend. If the heating element is damaged, it can be replaced with the heating element from the original hotend.
