Frequently Asked Questions
Snapmaker Matte PLA Filament is particularly suitable for art prints, decorative models, detailed figures, and visual prototypes. The soft matte finish makes layer lines less noticeable and provides a more uniform surface where visual appearance is a priority.
| Item | Matte PLA | Basic PLA |
| Surface appearance | Soft, low-gloss matte finish | Conventional PLA finish |
| Color range | Available in 23 colors | Available in black and white |
| Typical use | Decorative models, detailed figures, and appearance-focused prints | General-purpose 3D printing |
Snapmaker Matte PLA Filament can be used with most FDM 3D printers, including Snapmaker U1, Artisan, Snapmaker 2.0, J1/J1s, and Snapmaker Original. On the U1, its RFID information is detected and imported automatically, removing the need to enter the filament details manually. For other compatible printers, apply the recommended printing settings.
Begin with the following values for a 0.4 mm nozzle, then adjust them for the printer, nozzle diameter, model geometry, and printing environment.
| Parameter | Recommendation |
| Nozzle Temperature | 190–230 °C |
| Build Plate Temperature | 25–60 °C |
| Print Speed | 190–300 mm/s |
| Build Surface Treatment | Apply glue when needed |
| Drying Setting | 55° C for 6h |
Not necessarily. Dry the filament if it has been exposed to humidity or shows signs of moisture absorption, such as increased stringing, bubbles, uneven extrusion, or reduced layer adhesion.
• Recommended drying condition: 55 °C for 6 hours.
• Storage: After use, keep the spool with desiccant in a sealed bag or airtight container in a cool, dry place.
Under the recommended printing conditions, Snapmaker Matte PLA normally maintains stable material flow. If stringing or clogging occurs:
• Make sure the filament is dry and the nozzle is clean.
• Reduce the nozzle temperature slightly within the recommended range.
• Adjust retraction in small steps.
• If clogging continues, inspect the nozzle for residue or wear before printing again.
