Snapmaker Support for PLA
We recommend using Support for PLA Filament for the support interface and PLA for the support base.
We recommend using Support for PLA Filament for the support interface and PLA for the support base.
Peel Away, Remove with Ease
Designed for PLA prints, Snapmaker Support for PLA reduces bonding between the support interface and the model. Remove supports with less reliance on tools, spend less time on post-processing, and keep more of the fun in creating.
Stable Interface, Cleaner Prints
During printing, Snapmaker Support for PLA stays securely bonded to the PLA support body, helping prevent loose material from being carried onto the model by the nozzle. Fewer color streaks. A cleaner finish.
Close Support, Smooth Curves
With support interface settings in Snapmaker Orca, the interface sits close beneath curved overhangs, giving each layer steady support. It helps reduce sagging and rough layer lines, leaving underside curves smooth and even.
Less stress, More Detail
When removing supports the material separates cleanly from the model, minimizing stress on delicate features. Even the finest structures in miniature models can be freed from their supports with confidence, keeping every detail intact.
RFID Recognition[1]
When used with the Snapmaker U1, the printer automatically loads preset filament information for a more convenient printing experience.
Recycled Spool & Packaging
Both the spool and packing box are made from recycled materials, reducing the use of virgin materials.
Printing Tips
Drying & Storage
• Pre-Drying: Support for PLA Filament has low moisture sensitivity and generally does not require drying. However, pre-drying is recommended for optimal print results. The recommended setting is 50°C for 6 hours.
• Storage: When not in use, we recommend keeping the filament away from direct sunlight in a sealed container with desiccant.
Printing
• Use Only as a Support Interface: We strongly recommend using Support for PLA Filament only as a support interface material. Do not use it for the entire support body. In “Process,” switch to “Advanced” mode. Then go to “Support > Filament for Supports,” enable support, and set “Support/raft interface” to “Sup.PLA.” Continue using the same PLA as the model for the support body.
• Choose Support Type Based on Model Geometry: For large flat areas, regular overhangs, or structures that need stable support, standard support is recommended. For curved surfaces or other complex geometries, tree support is recommended to reduce contact area and material use. Results may vary by model, so check support coverage in the slicer preview.
• Improve Support Interface Quality: Setting "Top Z distance," "Bottom Z distance," "Top interface spacing," and "Bottom interface spacing" all to 0 mm gives a smoother support interface. To bring supports closer to the model's side walls, slightly reduce "Support/object xy distance" (avoid setting it to 0 mm by default, as overly tight contact can make removal difficult). If some overhangs lack sufficient support, increase the “Threshold angle” in increments of 5–10° while checking the slicer preview. If the interface surface is still uneven, try enabling "Ironing Support Interface."
• Reduce Standby Filament Carbonization: During multi-color printing, filament in the standby toolhead may gradually carbonize due to prolonged heating, affecting extrusion stability. Increase the prime tower’s purge volume and purge line spacing as appropriate to help flush out carbonized filament and improve print reliability.

Frequently Asked Questions
1. Compatibility
2. Can I use Snapmaker Support for PLA to print the entire support structure?
3. How do I set up Snapmaker Support for PLA in Snapmaker Orca?
- Switch to Advanced mode in the Process settings.
- Go to Support and enable supports.
- Under Filament for Supports, assign Snapmaker Support for PLA to Support/raft interface.
-
- Continue using the same PLA as the model for the main support structure.
4. Which support type should I use with Snapmaker Support for PLA?
- Standard support: Recommended for large flat areas, regular overhangs, and structures that require stable support.
- Tree support: Recommended for curved surfaces, figurines, and complex geometries where reducing contact area and material consumption is desirable.
5. How can I improve the support interface quality?
-
- -Top Z distance: 0 mm
- -Bottom Z distance: 0 mm
- -Top interface spacing: 0 mm
- -Bottom interface spacing: 0 mm
-
- -Bring supports closer to the model: Slightly reduce Support/object XY distance. Avoid setting it to 0 mm by default, as excessively tight contact may make support removal more difficult.
- -Improve support coverage: If some overhangs lack sufficient support, increase the Threshold angle in increments of 5–10° while checking the slicer preview.
- -Improve surface smoothness: If the support interface remains uneven, try enabling Ironing Support Interface.
6. What are the recommended printing settings for Snapmaker Support for PLA?
| Parameter | Recommended Setting |
| Nozzle Temperature | 200–230°C |
| Bed Temperature | 25–65°C |
| Cooling Fan | ON |
| Printing Speed | Up to 200 mm/s |
| Drying Before Printing | 55°C for 8 hours |
7. Build Plate Recommendation
| Build Plate | Compatibility |
| Textured PEl Plate | Compatible |
| Smooth PEI Plate | Compatible |
| Graphic Effect Plate | Not Compatible |
- If the printed model adheres too strongly to the build plate, allow the plate to cool before attempting removal. Follow the printer's safety instructions and the build plate manufacturer's recommendations. If a suitable release method is needed, ensure the plate is cool and follow the relevant product instructions.
- If the first layer does not adhere properly, check the bed leveling and clean the build plate. If the issue persists, apply a suitable glue stick or liquid glue, provided it is compatible with the build plate.
8. Do I need to dry Snapmaker Support for PLA before printing?
9. How should I store Snapmaker Support for PLA?
